First full vector archeomagnetic data from Northern Mexico

چکیده

Several regional secular variation curves of the geomagnetic field have been proposed for Mexico over last millennia. Despite a fairly large number archeomagnetic data, these remain imprecise because an uneven quality and geographic distribution, with lack data in Northern Mexico. Nine pottery kilns were sampled Casas de Fuego, archeological site Chihuahua state. These belong to Grandes culture use between 1250 1450 CE. Rock magnetic experiments indicate that main phase is Ti-poor titanomagnetite SD range. Mean characteristic directions per kiln estimated by alternating and/or thermal demagnetization, archeointensities Thellier-Thellier protocol, after correction anisotropy cooling effects. The nine eight intensities agree from USA but do not support peak inclination modeled Mexican curve around 1200–1300 For millennium, Western North American consistent SHAWQ2k global model, better reflects intensity, neither model nor intensity can depict rapid likely occurs circa 1500 Fuego results are first full vector determinations obtained

Using PHP and MySQL for Ranking and Displaying Archeomagnetic Data

We present a new archeointensity database application that stores data of the Earth’s magnetic field intensity for the last 7000 years. Our application allows users to query and rank data according to selectable criteria. It is also possible to plot the data as archeointensity curves. Users can access the database using any Web browser and see the results of their queries immediately on the scr...

Two new species of Chiropterotriton (Caudata: Plethodontidae) from northern Mexico.

Species of the genus Chiropterotriton are distributed through much of northern and eastern Mexico. The genus has presented taxonomic difficulties, with a number of species waiting to be described. We describe two new species, Chiropterotriton cieloensis sp. nov. and Chiropterotriton infernalis sp. nov., from the Mexican state of Tamaulipas based on both molecular and morphological data. We pres...

Land Cover Classification from Full-waveform Lidar Data Based on Support Vector Machines

In this study, a land cover classification method based on multi-class Support Vector Machines (SVM) is presented to predict the types of land cover in Miyun area. The obtained backscattered full-waveforms were processed following a workflow of waveform pre-processing, waveform decomposition and feature extraction. The extracted features, which consist of distance, intensity, Full Width at Half...

Identity Transformation in Colonial Northern Mexico

In 1754, Spanish officials and Catholic missionaries in the province of Sinaloa, located in northwestern Mexico, debated the wisdom of requiring local Indians to pay tribute to the King of Spain while exempting certain non-Indian settlers from such payments. A Jesuit missionary, whose opinion but not his name is preserved in the historical record, argued against the measure, indicating that the...
